Background on Town Centre Plan Update Surveys

Updating a Town Centre Plan can involve numerous community planning elements, as well as the municipality's services. Most plans will include such community planning activities as housing choices, population densities, mixed uses of residential, commercial (retail and service), parks, community spaces, building design styles and many more. As well, it will include considerations for transportation, traffic flow, parking, transit, pedestrian movement and overall community safety. Other engineering and infrastructure elements include current and future servicing such as electricity, water supply and drainage and even things such as fibre optics servicing. 

 

This sample survey supports the second phase in a three-phase project. The first phase and related survey covers the big ideas of things that should be considered as part of the plan. This second phase takes the preliminary pieces and presents them to residents and stakeholders for their input and to measure the support of these pieces. The final phase survey provides one more chance for residents to comment of the final plan (included all the pieces) and gather ideas around how the plan should be implemented (timing, priority, etc.)
